The first story in Animal Adventures book is Puss in Boots, about a young miller who is gifted a cat. The cat is clever and helps the miller to be treated as though he is a Marquis – and the King's daughter falls in love with him and they marry.

The book's second story is The Three Billy Goats Gruff, where three goats wish to cross a bridge, but a troll will not let them and wants to eat them instead. The first two goats trick him into letting them across, and the third and biggest goat headbutts the troll into the water, and joins the other goats in the meadow.

The last story in this book is The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, who visit each other's homes to see what life is like. Each mouse comes to realise that they prefer their own homes, rather than the life they though was better. The Town Mouse doesn't like the simple food and leafy bed in the country, and the Country Mouse doesn't like the barking dogs in the town.
