My mission is to choose for you 3 of our very best books for 3–4 year olds, and I accept. Don't forget, the 3 for 2 offer is on in the lead up to Christmas. Here's my pick…
The Snap Cards are simply great. At a young age, you can play a simple 5-minute game, such as 'find the red dinosaur' and 'find the dinosaur with a long neck'. Then you can progress to giving them a card and then have to find the match. This naturally leads onto understanding snap and matching pairs. A great way to spend half an hour with a toddler.

A couple of years ago, I often had to visit a family member in hospital with a 3 year old and a new baby. It wasn't an easy thing to do, to keep them happy and entertained. And I vividly remember taking this Play Pack and sitting in the dayroom going through each thing with my 3 year old. He loved it and was SO entertained. There's so much for them to do – and independently, which at that age, is very important to them!

My boys love Convertible Tractor and Convertible Train. But I have to admit to getting a little bored of playing with the same old vehicles (although I build a mean train track these days). I think Convertible Submarine is an unsung hero and my boys were fascinated when I showed them. There are so many fantastic creatures to discover – some familiar and some new, but either way, lot to talk about.
