Winnie the Pooh Day!

Winnie the Pooh Day!

Winnie the Pooh Day 2020

In 1926, English author A. A. Milne introduced the world to the now extremely famous (and deeply treasured) Winnie the Pooh. The curious adventures of the little bear and his friends in Hundred Acre Wood have delighted children and adults ever since.

A.A. Milne based Winnie the Pooh on his son Christopher Robin’s teddy bear and used some of his other stuffed toys as inspiration for other characters, such as Tigger and Piglet. The stories are filled with poignant imaginings that show us the innocence and beauty of childhood, and remind us that love, friendship – and honey – are so very important.

Each year, on January 18th (A.A. Milne's birthday), we celebrate Winnie the Pooh day. We thought you might like to do the same!

Ways to celebrate

  • Introduce a child to the books
  • Reread them yourself
  • Watch the movies
  • Have a picnic and eat some honey!
  • Play pooh sticks with a friend

Last of all, here are some of our favourite Winnie the Pooh quotes. What are yours?

Piglet: “How do you spell ‘love’?”
Pooh: “You don’t spell it…you feel it.”

“Some people care too much. I think it’s called love.”

“‘I don’t feel very much like Pooh today,’ said Pooh.
‘There, there,’ said Piglet. ‘I’ll bring you tea and honey until you do.'”

Piglet: “The things that make me different are the things that make me.”

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

Have a Tigger-ific weekend!
