Richard Platt

British author Richard Platt has been writing since 1983. In that time he has had more than 100 books published. Most are illustrated information books for children, but he has also written children’s stories, and several books for adults. Some of his books have won prizes including a Smarties Silver Prize, and a Blue Peter Award. Three other books reached the Royal Society Science Prize shortlist. He doesn't just write books: he has written restaurant reviews, corporate reports, TV scripts and museum interpretation, and appears regularly on TV and radio to talk about pirates and smugglers.
